In 1982, nestled deep in Belgium’s enchanting Ardennes forest, two passionate brothers-in-law brewed their very first batch of La Chouffe—a whimsical blonde ale that quickly captured imaginations and palates alike. La Chouffe soon became the clear favorite among our beers, beloved for its vibrant flavor and approachable drinkability. From these humble beginnings in a quaint farmhouse shed, Brasserie d’Achouffe blossomed into a beacon of creativity, known affectionately for its iconic gnome mascot, Marcel, and celebrated for its playful yet sophisticated beers.

As Chouffe found its way into American hearts, craft beer enthusiasts embraced its distinctive charm and spirit. Our Cherry Chouffe, a refreshingly tart cherry-infused ale, and Houblon Chouffe, our adventurous Belgian IPA created with American hop enthusiasts in mind, both reflect our commitment to innovation and the diverse tastes of our U.S. fans. Chouffe proudly joins beer lovers at Brewery Ommegang’s Belgium Comes to Cooperstown, where we gather to celebrate decades of brewing magic, authentic Belgian traditions, and the joyful spirit embodied by Marcel himself.
